SWANSEA UNIVERSITY SPORTING TEAM MATES
MEMBERSHIP
We are currently offering ways in which former Athletic Union Members can give back to their former teams and clubs. Without the help of former students of the University many of the clubs could not function as they do and so your help and support is essential.
We offer a range of membership options to our members which hopefully should provide a level of support that is realistic to all alumni. If there is something you wish to be added to your membership then please contact us. More details follow but the packages are:

General Sports Fund – Swansea is aiming to attract more postgraduate sporting students to the University to strengthen their sides. Postgraduates bring an obvious maturity to the team and can also assist in instruction and coaching. As part of the strategic plan of the University this is an area which the University aims to expand and this is very much in line with where we wish sport to develop. With funding from our Team Mates we can help to establish post grad scholarships with financial rewards in addition to a host of other support services.
Men’s Rugby – Looking to keep up with the giants in the BUCS Premier League. All teams have a full time coach with exception of Swansea with an array of support staff such as assistant coaches, Strength and conditioning staff, fitness coaches, physio staff. Swansea has part time staff coaching the team. Swansea is also currently training on Astroturf as it is the only facility with lights the team can afford. Help Swansea University to keep up with the professional outfits in the Premier League. All money will go towards coaching and support staff, improving facilities and equipment for the boys
Men’s Football – The men’s team have enjoyed a considerable period in the top leagues of BUSA however have finally succumb to the superior support other Universities are getting. The boys have valiantly fought to maintain their Premier League status however were relegated this year. We desperately want the boys to bounce back to where they belong with the best teams in the UK. All money raised will go to coaching support and equipment that will help to develop the boys back to the top where Swansea belongs
Rowing – The Rowing club here at Swansea is rapidly developing. With a brand new boat now secured and many medals coming back to the club the teams are going from strength to strength. All of the members are completely dedicated to the club with 4 7am training sessions a week on top of their river schedule the future looks rosy for this club who deserve everything success that comes their way. Any additional funds will be put into securing new boats and equipment to further advance the team and make them even more competitive.
Hockey – The Hockey club has always been known as one of the more social clubs but through the continued hard work of Jeff Lee along with the students, the ladies and the men’s teams are really becoming a force in South Wales. The teams are still trying to find and secure a coach with quality coaches being quite scarce in the area and as such a bit more expensive. Help Hockey to secure their rightful place in the BUCS and Welsh Hockey leagues and finally be able to give Cardiff a run for their money at Varsity!
Swimming – With the inception of the Intensive Training Centre and GB base here at Swansea, the standard of swimming at the University has dramatically improved to a point where we are now regularly achieving in the top 5 British Universities. This has come at a cost to the team who is now having to buy a great deal more pool time. Help the swim team to maintain this incredibly high standard and move further up the BUCS rankings with money going towards coaching and pool time for the club.
